Sky is by the same people who made Journey, and similar in concept though with a passive MMO side to it. Very mesmerising. Another is Europa, though that hasn't been released yet. They are all quite linear, though, while Sable seems more open. But thematically, they all seem quite similar.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Sable as much as I did! It’s such a beautiful game and I couldn’t stop talking about it when I played it.
I spent probably double your play time crawling over every inch of the map, gathered every single badge, collected every mask, item of clothing and bike upgrade. I followed every quest line. I even endured hours of the glitchy-ass fishing minigame all the way to the bitter end, catching every single last fish and collecting every butterfly. Initially I told myself it was because I’m a completionist and wanted to 100% it, get that platinum trophy.
Really, what I realised as I approached that 99% completion mark was that what I wanted was the same as Sable and many npc’s - I wanted my gliding to go on forever.
Thank you for playing this game and I’m so relieved you enjoyed it. It’s a great write up Ali!
Sounds beautiful, shame about the bugs, that crashes ship thing sounds deeply frustrating especially in a game so built on exploration. Made me laugh about spending all your money on bike upgrades that's exactly what I'd do
I bought this a few years ago, but haven't gotten around to loading it yet. This might get be to finally do so!
Though pretty different, have you played Journey or Sky? Those aren't this open-ended, but they seem to have similarities to Sable.
Journey has been on my list to play for ages actually but I've never heard of Sky, I'll give it a look.
I hope you love Sable as much as I do.

I don't mind linear experiences at all, they definitely sound worth a look.
Surprised I've not heard for Sable before, but really enjoyed this piece about it! I'll be picking it up when I can :D
I hope you love it as much as I did.

That's such a nice way of putting it. I think at some point when I've got a bit more time I want to go back and 100% it.
You won’t regret it. There’s so much to find.
